Visit Lawrence Heritage State Park and explore the history of one of America’s first planned industrial cities. At the Visitor Center you can learn about water-powered textile mills, the people who came to live and work in the “Immigrant City”, and the famous “Bread and Roses Strike” of 1912. Our parks and paths lead you along power canals past giant textile mills and to the Merrimack River and the Great Stone Dam, a 19th century engineering wonder. The Visitor Center also serves as a community center, art gallery, and visitor information center. We host numerous cultural events sponsored by city organizations. The Park also provides over 70 acres of recreational greenspace in the city.
